Helen M. Macri, 83, formerly of South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.


She was born in Wilkes-Barre Township on October 5, 1933, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Kohan Scrippens.  Helen was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School.


Helen was employed by the EA Roos Meat Packing Company in Wilkes-Barre and she was later employed at Little Flower Manor in Wilkes-Barre, prior to her retirement.


Helen was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she was active with the church’s annual bazaar.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Macri in 1981.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, George, Michael, John and Andrew Scrippens and by her sisters, Mary Miske and Anna Stavish.


Helen is survived by her children, Annette Grella and her husband, Joseph, Ashley, Susan Jacobs, Mountville, Elaine Macri, Mountaintop and Vincent Macri Jr., Texas; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney & Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.


Friends may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 -9:30 at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. of Luzerne County, 524 East Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA  18702.
