Richard Weihbrecht

Richard Weihbrecht, 48, of Plymouth, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.


Richard was born in Wilkes-Barre, on May 9, 1968, a son of Thomas N. and Margaret Santey Weihbrecht of Wilkes-Barre. He was a 1986 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School and a graduate of Johnson Technical School of welding. Richard was self-employed as a welder and was the owner of Portable Welding Company.


He was a volunteer with the Nanticoke Little League. Richard was an avid bowler, and he loved camping and NASCAR racing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Larksville.


Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Prezkop, in 2005.


Surviving, in addition to his parents are his wife of 14 years, Lisa Weihbrecht; children, Richard Jacob Weihbrecht and Emily Rose Weihbrecht, at home; step-daughter, Bryanna Achey, Wilkes-Barre; brothers, Thomas Weihbrecht and his wife, Ruth, Slocum and John Weihbrecht and his wife, Paula, Bear Creek Township; sister, Darlene Steinberger and her husband, Bob, West Pittston; brother-in-law, Gary Prezkop, Mountaintop; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, 126 Nesbitt Street, Larksville. Those attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.


Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 PM at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.


The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to St. John the Baptist Church, 126 Nesbitt Street, Larksville, PA 18615.
