Ann Marie Lawzano

Ann Marie Lawzano, 65, of Wilkes-Barre, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday morning at her home, surrounded by her loving family.


She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Zamulinsky Waligun.  Ann Marie was a graduate of Coughlin High School, class of 1973. She was formerly employed as a waitress at the Hotel Sterling in Wilkes-Barre and she was later employed as a nurse’s aide for Quality Care Home Health in Kingston.


Ann Marie was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre.  She was an active member of the Wilkes-Barre Senior Citizens Center.  Ann Marie loved animals and was a the proud owner of 2 champion Shelties, multiple dogs and cats throughout her lifetime.


Ann Marie is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Lawzano and by her son, John Robert Lawzano and his wife, Jessica Lynn, West Nanticoke.  She is also survived by her brothers, Charles Waligun, Nanticoke, Robert Waligun and his wife, Diane, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Nancy Waligun, Wilkes-Barre and by her nieces and nephews, including Charles, Joanna and Joseph Waligun; Joseph, Michael and Robert Huntzinger and Donna Young and many great nieces and nephews.


Ann Marie’s funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Requiem Funeral Service to follow at 11am in Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 635 N. River Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery, Plains Township.


Friends may call on Friday from 9 – 10:30 am at the funeral home.


Panakhyda Prayer Service will be held at 9:15 am.


Those attending the visitation and service are required to wear a mask and abide by state social distancing requirements.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 635 N. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA  18705 or to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 525 E. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA  18702.
