Anna Katarsky

Anna Katarsky, 96, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing, Wilkes-Barre.


She was born in Wilkes-Barre Township, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Washington Heiser.  Anna was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing


Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.


Anna was a member of Our Lady of Fatma Parish at St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception in Wilkes-Barre.  Anna enjoyed traveling and spending time in the Poconos.  She loved day trips to the Atlantic City casinos and her dogs.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Katarsky Sr. in 2010 and by her daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Katarsky.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Risko and by her brother, Andrew, Joseph, John and George Heiser.


Anna is survived by her sons, Edward J. Katarsky and his wife, Maureen, Parsons and Robert J. Katarsky of Wilkes-Barre Township; grandchildren, Mark Katarsky and his wife, Jenny, Robert Katarsky Jr. and his wife, Joanne and Heather Long and her husband, Rich; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Jean Katarsky and Kyle Katarsky; and by her nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 9 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, 134 S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.


Friends may call on Monday from 8 – 9 am at the funeral home.


Those attending the visitation and funeral mass are required to wear a mask and abide by state social distancing requirements.
