Carolyn (Carol) Martin

Carolyn (Carol) Martin of Bear Creek Township, entered into eternal life on January 23, 2019.


Carol was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Pointek) Zajkowski.  She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School and Empire Beauty School and proudly worked for Sunshine Market for 35 years.  Most recently, she was employed by Martz Trailways and a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish.  She was an antique car enthusiast and a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, national and local chapter.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Martin; brother, Bernard Zajkowski; son-in-law, Ken Blower; and daughter-in-law, Tammie (Lowe) Martin.


Surviving are her children, Thomas Martin (Robin), Bear Creek Township; Michael Martin, Wilkes-Barre; Michelle Blower, Mountain Top; Carolyn (Missy) Sromoski (Frank), Mountain Top, grandchildren, Victoria Martin; Francis Sromoski, and Caroline Sromoski, Stephanie and Jason Wasmanski, and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Thomas Wasmanski, “her family” with whom she resided.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Andre Bessette Parish, 668 N. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming.


Friends may call on Friday from 4 – 7 pm at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prescription Assistance Fund at Medical Oncology Associates, 382 Pierce Street, Kingston, PA 18704.
