Dolores A. Woychik, R.N.

Dolores A. Woychik, 94, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, Murrells Inlet, SC.

 

She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Frank and Marian Papson Dorko.  Dolores was a 1946 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School and a 1950 graduate of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing.  Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for many years as a Registered Nurse in supervisory positions at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and at the Hampton House in Hanover Township.

 

Dolores was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Wilkes-Barre, where she was a member of Christian Mothers Society.  She was also a member of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.

 

Dolores was compassionate to others, whether she was working with strangers or with family members.  She loved her family and friends dearly.  She always wanted to make others happy.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Woychik in 1973.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, James G. Dorko, Sr. and by her sister-in-law, Marie (Fetzer) Dorko.

 

Dolores is survived by her sons, Joseph Woychik and his wife, Lynne, Surfside Beach, SC and James Woychik and his companion, Bernadine, Plains; 3 grandchildren, Nick Woychik, Surfside Beach, SC, Justin Woychik and his wife, Mi, and Erin Nienke and her husband, Tom, both residing in the Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL area; 2 great grandchildren, Roman and Quentin; cousins, Patty and Rita Zang; numerous nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by dear friends, Marguerite, Marie, Tilly, Marion and Lorraine.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 30th at 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.  Parking is available in the church’s parking lots located on S. Hancock Street, behind the church.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 8:30 – 10 am in the church, prior to her Mass.
