Obituaries » Donald R. Biebel Sr. August 8, 2023 Donald R. Biebel Sr. August 8, 2023 Donald R. Biebel, 78, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late William M. and Emma E. Mathe Biebel. He was a 1962 graduate of G.A.R. High School. Don was employed as a cable splicer for Bell Atlantic/ Verizon, prior to his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, during the Vietnam War. Don was a member of St. Andrew Parish, Wilkes-Barre. He enjoyed photography, gardening, walking and being outside in nature. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, William R. Biebel. Surviving is his wife, Theresa M. Eichhorn Biebel; son, Donald R. Biebel Jr. and his companion, Ania Vasquez, Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Theresa M. Biebel, at home; and Bernadette Charneski and her husband, John, Larksville; granddaughter, Makayla R. Biebel, Wilkes-Barre. Don is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews. A celebration of Don’s life will begin with a visitation from 9 – 10 am on Saturday in St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
