Donna M. Porzucek, 76, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness, on July 29, 2021, in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Makuch Pudloski. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School, 1958, earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Wilkes College, 1962, and she went on to earn her master’s degree in education from Wilkes University, 1995. Donna touched the lives of many students as a high school math teacher at various high schools in the Wilkes-Barre area.
Donna was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of the NEA, PSEA, and W-BSD. Donna pursued her passion of music by becoming the organist for both St. Joseph’s Monastery and St. Christopher’s Church, prior to their closings. She also kept busy in her retirement by volunteering at the Wilkes-Barre Free Dental Clinic. Donna enjoyed traveling extensively through the United States and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Joseph Porzucek, brother, Joseph Pudloski II and nephew, Joseph Pudloski III.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Joseph A. Porzucek; children, Laurel Tatara and her husband Wayne, Mountain Top, James Pozucek. Wanamee, and Susan Porzucek, Wilkes-Barre Township; grandchildren, Logan Prozucek and Nicholas Tuttle; brother-in-law, Edward Porzucek and his wife Betty, Wilkes-Barre Township; sisters-in-law, Catherine Welgosh and her husband Joseph, Wilkes-Barre Township, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pudloski, Hunlock Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12 PM from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:30 PM in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Friends may call on from 4-7 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Residential Hospice and the ICU team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for the exceptional care they gave, especially Ali & Bree.
