Edmund Bernard Brooks, Jr.

November 1, 2021

Edmund Bernard Brooks, Jr., 73, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre on Monday, November 1, 2021.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late Edmund Bernard Brooks, Sr. and Anna Duda Brooks. He was a graduate of Manville High School in Manville, NJ. Prior to his retirement, Ed had been employed as a truck driver for Three Springs Water, Gemark, Miles Homes, and as a driver for the LCTA.

He logged the most miles taking his loving wife on shopping trips to QVC Outlets, Costco, Vanity Fair and any other outlet along the way, with a pit stop always at Wawa.  He burned rubber when it came to his grandchildren, whether in NJ with Andrew or chasing the girls around town. His home was the “unofficial” welcome center to the Giant’s Despair Hillclimb. In his early years, he played the accordion in the Four Aces Polka Band and trombone in a Drum and Bugle Corps.  Ed was a member of our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, JoAnn M. Jezercak Brooks; children, Michelle Brooks-Rogers and her husband, Phil, Wilkes-Barre, Edmund Brooks and his wife Amanda, Wilkes-Barre, Alicia Harenza and her husband Jeremy, Manville, NJ; grandchildren, Sophie, Lillian and Anna Brooks, and Andrew Harenza; sisters, Debra DiGrazia and her husband Albert, Manville, NJ; Ann Marie Stajewski and her husband, Charles, Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 noon from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.  The Rev. Thaddeus Dymkowski will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 11 A.M. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wawa’s Adopt a Family using Venmo @ AAF Wawa and/or Live Love Dance Tuition Assistance Program.
