Eleanor E. Grochowski

Eleanor E. Grochowski, 97, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing in Wilkes-Barre.

 

She was born in Wilkes-Barre a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Bertulis Evanoski.  Eleanor was a 1942 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, having worked for many years at Pioneer Manufacturing.

 

Eleanor was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Wilkes-Barre.  She was very proud of her Lithuanian Heritage and enjoyed a good potato pancake.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley A. Grochowski in 1970.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Grohowski and by her brother, James Evanoski.

 

Eleanor is survived by her son, Stanley A. Grohowski, Wilkes-Barre and by her daughter, Arlene M. Grohowski and her companion, Harvey Jones, Exeter; sister, Stella Brodhead, Wilkes-Barre; brother, Frank Evanoski and his wife, Theresa, Kingston, and by her nieces and nephews.

 

Eleanor’s family would like to thank Dr. Patrick Kerrigan, Dr. David Dalessandro and the nurses and staff of the second floor of Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing for their compassionate care.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek Township.

 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 9 – 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Parish.  Parking in available in the Church lots on S. Hancock Street.
