Elizabeth Jule Knorr

Elizabeth Jule Knorr, 74, of Ashley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 1, 2016, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital with her loving family beside her.


She was born in Wilkes-Barre on September 15, 1942. Betty was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Olex) Desmond. She was a 1960 graduate of G.A.R. High School. Betty took pride in being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, making crafts, painting ceramics, gardening, decorating her home and playing Yahtzee and cards


She will be deeply missed by her husband, three daughters, sons- in-law, and her grandchildren. She especially loved seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter of her grandchildren, as well as spoiling them with love and gifts. She will always be remembered as being a giving, loving woman with the most beautiful and caring heart.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Desmond.


Betty is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joseph; daughters, Lisa, wife of Kevin Kistler, Shavertown; Danielle, wife of Peter Romanchick, Tunkhannock; Denise, wife of Jason Leininger, Birdsboro; grandchildren, Delaney and Kylie Romanchick and Jason Jr., Joseph, Jax, Jett and Juliana Leininger.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 9 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 am at St. Andrew’s Parish, 316 Parish Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.


Friends may call on Friday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 712 South Keyser Avenue, Taylor, PA  18517.
