Frances Jenner Casey, 90, of Warrior Run passed away, Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Residential Celtic Hospice in Wilkes-Barre.


Frances was born in Sugar Notch March 17, 1928. She was the daughter of the late William Jenner and Mary Veranka.


Frances was a member of Holy Family Parish, Sugar Notch where she was a Eucharistic Minister and an active member of the Christian Mother’s Society. She graduated from Sugar Notch High School in 1947 and from Mercy School of Nursing in 1949.


She worked all of her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre retiring in 1993.


A crafter, seamstress and baker all her life, Frances was known for her homemade bread at church bake sales, her beautiful handmade dolls for church bazaars and most recently the hats and scarves she knitted for the homeless.


Her children and grandchildren fondly remember countless hours of playing Canasta, forming the Luzerne County Canasta Club and winning the coveted Funky Monkey award.


Frances was also known for her green thumb, her flower covered porch and her love of hummingbirds.


No one ever left her home hungry or without some goodie to take with them.


Frances was preceded in death by her 15 brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her children: Michelle Charneski, VA, Joanne Drayer, home, Michael Casey Jr, Boyertown, Donna Lussier, Sugar Notch, Joseph Casey, Mountaintop, John “Sean” Casey, Warrior Run, Tricia Kimble, New Tripoli, nine grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday in Holy Family Church, 828 Main Street, Sugar Notch. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.


Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
