Harry B. Miller, 92, of Wilkes-Barre, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Plains Township.
Harry was born in Wilkes-Barre on May 12, 1923, a son of the late Harry B. and Gwendolyn Miller. He attended Meyers High School. Harry served with the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Ribbon. After the war, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and later worked at the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority, where he retired from.
Harry was a member of the Landmark Masonic Lodge #442, F&AM, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of the Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, the former Rita Cunningham; children: Harry B. Miller and his wife, Debbie, Wilkes-Barre, Joanne Miller, Kingston and James Miller and his wife, Susan, Bear Creek; sister: Mildred Richards, Glen Lyon and nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Rev. Harold Armstrong, pastor of the Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Maryâ€™s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9-10:30 am.
