Helen T. Margison

Helen T. Margison, 87, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

 

Helen was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Lipka Margison. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School, class of 1952. Helen was employed as a secretary for Kronick-Kalada-Berdy & Company Accounting Firm for many years.

 

Helen was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre, and was a former member of St. Joseph Slovak Church, prior to its closing. She was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies’ Association, the Slovak Heritage Society of NEPA, and the Charles T. Adams Wilkes-Barre Senior Citizen’s Center. Helen taught line dancing for many years and was a member of The Country Stompers.

 

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Strobel; brother-in-law, Dr. Joseph Strobel; and dear friend of many years, John Formanski.

 

Surviving are her niece, Donna Grzenda and her husband, Joseph Jr. and their son, Joseph III, Wapwallopen; nephew, Joseph Strobel and his wife, Cathy, Larksville; cousins, Daria Baum, Ringwood, NJ; John Evan, Norristown; Maria Lipka, Slovakia.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish at St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, 134 S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in  St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
