James Justin Blewitt

James Justin Blewitt, 27, passed away Friday, January 13th at home due to a sudden, tragic accident. Left to grieve the loss are his parents, Drs. Charles and Joan Blewitt, his brother, Dr. J.C. Blewitt and his wife, Meghan, their children, his nephew Luke, his niece and goddaughter Kaylee, and his cat Brucie. In addition, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, extended family, and co-workers are also left to mourn his passing.

Born in Kingston on June 9, 1995, James was a graduate of Holy Redeemer High School, Class of 2014 and King’s College, Class of 2018, where he majored in English and Philosophy. He was also pursuing a graduate degree in Healthcare Management at King’s.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents William and Marion McGuiness and paternal grandparents Attorney J. Justin and Mary Blewitt.

James worked at the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) where he ran the Senior Food Program, ensuring local seniors got groceries and meals. He completely embodied the motto of the organization, “People Helping People”. He truly cared for all those he encountered.

James was a wonderful son, a loving brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and a soft-hearted, thoughtful young man. His passions included wide-spanning musical genres, fishing, and most recently jiu-jitsu. Often complimented on his exemplary manners, extended vocabulary, and welcoming style, he brought joy to all those who knew him. The heartbreak of his loss will be felt forever.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:15 am in St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, 339 N. Maple Avenue, Kingston.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and friends may call from 4-7 pm on Tuesday   and from 8:30 – 9:15 am on Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a variety of organizations that James supported, including: CEO, King’s College, St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
