Obituaries » Jean Gries August 5, 2022 Jean Gries August 5, 2022 Jean Gries, 89, of Edwardsville, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing, in Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late August and Mary Perschau Bayer. Jean was a graduate of Meyers High School, class of 1951. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an office administrator at the Children’s Service Center in Wilkes-Barre. Jean was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wilkes-Barre, where she was a Welsh cookie baker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William C. Gries in 2018 and by her sisters, Ruth Albrecht and Dorothy Appel; and brothers Walter Bayer and Robert Bayer. Jean is survived by her children, William C. Gries, Jr. and his wife Cindy, Houston, TX, Corinne Petyo and her husband Edmund, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Alix Burger and her husband Alex, Kacie Gries and her partner Gered, Danni Beinschroth and her husband Mason, and Ethan Petyo; and by her nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 5 – 7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fund Director of Development for the Children’s Service Center, 335 S.
