'Jack' Pastula February 13, 2021 John T. ‘Jack’ Pastula February 13, 2021 John T. ‘Jack’ Pastula, 90, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was a resident of the Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Dallas since November 2018. Born in Swoyersville on July 4, 1930, he was the oldest son of John C. and Anna Timko Pastula. He was a graduate of Swoyersville High School and a resident of Swoyersville, until his marriage to the late Margaret Bebb on October 23, 1954. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Pizza L’Oven in Hanover Township as a manager and for many years at Heavenly Shoe in Hanover Township as a foreman. Jack enjoyed the simple thing in life, gardening and family get togethers. What brought him the most joy in recent years were his 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Bebb Pastula, on May 20, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his oldest granddaughter, Melissa Zarlengo, whom he loved dearly and her husband, Dr. Joseph Zarlengo and by his sister, Lillian Shultz. Jack is survived by his daughter, Linda Schuler and her husband, David, Harveys Lake, Diane Mettler and her husband, Mark, Dallas and Sharon Whittaker and her husband, Bob, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Ainsley Kuppler, Caitlin Robinson, Ashley Teets and Shelby Whittaker; great grandchildren, Ivy, Francesca, Madeline, Madison, Lillianna, Alivia, Cole, Quinn, Harper, Camellia and Kayden; brother, Andrew Pastula and his wife, Elaine; sister, Eleanor Wienckoski; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Father Joseph Rafferty, Rector of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Dallas, will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Those attending the visitation and service are required to wear a mask and abide by social distance requirements.
