John “Yogi” Jagodzinski

John “Yogi” Jagodzinski, 86, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, surrounded by his family at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.


He was born in Nanticoke, a son of the late Lucille Jagodzinski Zaborney. Yogi was a graduate of Nanticoke High School. Prior to his retirement, Yogi was employed at the Valley Crest Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre.  He was also the owner of Yogi’s Ethnic Foods.


Yogi loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed running his potato pancake business, Yogi’s Ethnic Foods, and singing polkas. Yogi was an animal lover and will be dearly missed by his two cats, Sammy and Annie. In his younger days, he liked to play softball and flag football. Yogi was an active member in his community and served on many committees throughout his life.  He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Wilkes-Barre.


Yogi will be greatly missed by his family and friends.


He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rosemarie Ondish Jagodzinski; children, Michelle Rader and her husband Jay, Whitehall, Michael Jagodzinski and his wife Carla, Sugar Notch, and Dianna Jagodzinski, Mountain Top; grandsons, Matthew Rader, Michael and Justin Jagodzinski; great-grandsons, Carson and Lucas Jagodzinski; brothers, Albert Zaborny and his wife Linda, Wanamie, and Joseph Zaborney and his wife Jean, Wilkes-Barre; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 pm from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.  Rev. John S. Terry, Pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Wilkes-Barre, will officiate.  Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek Township.


Friends may call from 5-7 om on Sunday at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Whiskers World or an animal rescue of your choice.
