Maureen, Pat, Marie, Jimmy, and family, Linda and I are devastated by the passing of Joe. Rest in peace, Joe. Joe named the Guesto residence ;the D and O Diner’ Dietz and Ock. Dietz from ‘Ritzi Dietzy.’ ‘Ock’ for the sound of Pascal’s cough. Ock only played opera in the drug store and did not sell condoms. Linda and I took 3-year-old Pat dressed as a grown up to Patsy’s funeral. We sat in the front row. Pat understood what was going on. Joe would play his stereo and drums too loud on the porch. Rita would yell: ‘Turn it down.” Joe would yell back: ‘No, Dietz.’ Jimmy and I, as mature, ‘69 high school seniors, took 6th graders, Joe and Joel Tershak, to the Wilkes Barre Drive In in Jimmy’s Buick. Jimmy did not have Joe, Joel, or me get in the trunk to sneak in. We would sneak in through the exit on occasion.. Jimmy: 'Joe, do you want a beer?" 'Sure.' Joe was a senior at Hoban. Mark Vivian was bartending at the Fiesta Room, behind Hadvance’s Restaurant on S. Main Street next to Sam’s Steaks (Sam, I’ll take 2 steaks and a ‘Bug Juice.’). Juicy and I took Joey, wearing a white shirt, tie, and sport coat, into the Fiesta Room around noon. I bought him a beer. Joe leaned against the back wall, drinking his beer, eyes wide open ogling the dancer, saying, “I like this place. I like this place.” Joe would ask me to get him 5 cases of Schlitz Beer at the Mountain Top Distributor. I would cut his order in half for his own good. He knew this so he just doubled his order. Joe threw an empty case of cans in the lot next to the house. I bought underage Joe and friends a half gallon of spinata wine or a bottle of Boone's Farm Apple wine on numerous occasions. I lifted the corner of my Liquor Control Board card. inserted Joe’s picture, and let Joe use it. Joe was one of the few that would order hot dogs with everything at Abe’s and put ketchup on the hot dog. It drove the Druby’s crazy. Joe had Ralph Fino who was blind in one eye as a St. Jude’s grade school teacher. Joe and Butsy knew this. They would entertain the class with their antics from Ralph’s blind side. Linda and I always enjoyed our time with Joe and the entire Guesto family and his friends. Thank you all. Joe, we miss you. (I have tears in my eyes.) All our love, Linda and Rick

Dearest Maureen and Patrick, Dave and Kos wish to express our deepest sadness over Joe’s passing. He was a wonderful person and friend with a fun sense of humor and great taste in music. He was our # 1 dependable driver in high school days. We won’t be able to make it up there for the celebration or the funeral. Please know our thoughts will be with you. Take care and hold on tight to all the great memories of dear Joe Guesto.

One of the best men I’ve ever known. He was talented, giving and a very nice person. He will be missed by many.
