Marian Margaret Salonick, 91, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Marian was born in Kingston, living most of her life in Wilkes-Barre Township with her beloved husband and family. She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Hazel Kishner Sheldon. She was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1948. Marian was employed as a medical secretary at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.
Marian was an active member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre, where she would regularly volunteer as a lector.
Marian, Honey, Darling, Mom, Nana, Mitzi, Aunt Marian was loved by all who knew her. She loved to go for coffee with family and friends, and taking her grandchildren on “Nana Fun Days”. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done, always dressing for success, as well as vacationing in warm climates where she could lay in the sun by the pool. She was truly the glue that held our family together. We will always carry her memory in our hearts. She will be missed.
In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 54-years, her “Darling”, Francis Andrew Salonick, her daughter, Judith Naples, and her brother Elwood Sheldon.
She is survived by; children, Curtis Salonick, of Wilkes-Barre, Paul Kleist, of Wilkes-Barre, Linda Sauers, of Avoca, Musette Goralski, of Monkton, Md., Damian Salonick, of Yardley, and Nadja Colangelo, of Hampstead, Md.; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Relative and friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Friday, April 29th, 2022 from 9am to 10am at St. Nicholas Church, 226 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marian’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
