Marie E. Harding

November 13, 2021

 

Marie E. Harding, 73, of Hanover Township, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

 

She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late William J. Lavan and Madeline Schultz Lavan.  Marie was a 1966 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School.  She married William J. Harding on September 8, 1973 in Wilkes-Barre. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 32 years as an administrative assistant for the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, having worked for many years at G.A.R. Memorial High School.

 

Marie was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre. In her spare time, she enjoyed Sunday dinners with her grandsons, socializing with friends and family, Broadway shows in New York, and traveling.

 

The family would like to thank the Geisinger at Home team, specifically her nurse Joe Delia and physician Anthony Wylie, for their dedication, compassion, and care they provided over the last 6 months.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Harding in 2001 and by her son, Christopher B. Harding in 1987.

 

Marie is survived by her sons, Todd G. Harding and his wife, Andrea J. Harding, Wilkes-Barre and Jason W. Harding and his wife, Tracy Harding, Golden, CO; grandsons, William James Harding and Everett Andrew Harding; brothers, William J. Lavan and his wife, Doreen Lavan, Wilkes-Barre and Brian P. Lavan and his wife, Sharon Lavan, Wilkes-Barre; nephews, William E. Lavan and his wife, Christina Lavan, Brian C. Lavan and his wife, Lyndsay Lavan and Ross M. Lavan and his wife, Amanda Lavan. She is also survived by her cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous dear friends.

 

 

 

 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney and Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.

 

Family and friends may call from 9 – 11 am on Friday at the Church.
