Obituaries » Marion E. Prushinski April 1, 2023 Marion E. Prushinski April 1, 2023 Marion E. Prushinski, 96, of Newark, Delaware, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Somerford House in Newark, Delaware. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Anthony and Lena Harry George. Marion was a 1944 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School and a graduate of the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at the Nanticoke State General Hospital and for many years at the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in Kingston. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anthony/St. George Maronite Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre. Marion was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore J. Prushinski Sr. in 1995 and by her son, Anthony G. Prushinski in 2020. She was also recently preceded in death by her sister, Jamilia Chernikovich. Marion is survived by her son, Theodore J. Prushinski Jr. and his wife, Julie, Delaware and by her daughter-in-law, Doreen Prushinski, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Alexandra and T.J. Prushinski; sister, Isabel Yeninas, Delaware; brothers, Thomas George, Delaware and Malcolm George, Maryland; and by numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Doreen Prushinski for opening up her heart and home for many years as well as being her caretaker. We would also like to thank Mary & John Gruzenski for always being there to care for and assist Marion during her time in Wilkes-Barre. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 10th at 10:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Divine Liturgy will follow at 11 am in St. Anthony/St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 311 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 – 10:30 am on Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
