Marjorie L. DeMarco, 80, of Wilkes-Barre passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Scranton, a daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Saffer Manka. Marjorie was a 1958 graduate of West Scranton High School. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a special needs aide for the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.
Marjorie was a devout Catholic and member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre and a member of the Ladies of Charity. Marjorie loved to shop and go to flea markets. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher and by her sisters, Catherine (Kitchie) Venturi and Elizabeth Manka.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph L. DeMarco and by her children, Cindy Zakarauskas and her husband, Joseph, Bear Creek, Gerri Williams and Tom Nice, Wilkes-Barre and by Joe DeMarco and his wife, Diane, Wilkes-Barre. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Billy, Stanley and his wife, Cindy, Elizabeth and her husband, Justin, Krista, Christopher and Matthew; great grandchildren, Rosalie, Amelie and Melanie; sisters, Mary Ellen Errico and her husband, John, Dunmore and Annie Emiliani and her husband, Emil, Scranton; brother, Edward Manka, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marjorie’s family would like to thank the staff at Residential Hospice, especially her nurse, Denise, for their compassionate care.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Monday in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Barney and Divisions Streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Those attending the Mass are required to wear a Mask and abide by social distancing requirements.
There will be no public calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s name to St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, 143 Division Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
