Martha A. Poss

December 25, 2017

 

 

Martha A. Poss, 84, of Ann’s Choice, Warminster, PA, and formerly of Redcoat Lane, Liberty Hills, Hanover Township, died on Monday afternoon in Newtown, PA.

 

Martha was born on March 11, 1933, in Nanticoke, the daughter of Leonard and Genevieve Novinski. She was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Nanticoke High School, and Geisinger Nursing School, Class of 1953. Following school, Martha worked as a nurse for several years.

 

Mrs. Poss resided for many years in Towanda, PA with her husband of 52 years, Stanley M. Poss. In 1994, they returned to the Wilkes-Barre area, where she resided for 16 years. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. In 2010, she moved to Ann’s Choice in Warminster, PA, to be close to family. Everywhere Martha went, she was known for her skill and quick wit in both playing and teaching piano and bridge.

 

Surviving are her sons, Dr. Andrew Poss and his wife, Dr. Darlene Dombrowski, Buffalo, N.Y.; Dr. Michael Poss and his wife, Dr. Kathleen Poss, Lawrenceville, N.J.; Dr. Christopher Poss and his wife, Amy Porter, Baltic, C.T.; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Laura Poss.

 

The funeral service will be held Thursday.  Visitation will be from 10:30-12:00 at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 12:30 PM at St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre.

 

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Thursday, 10:30-12:00, at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
