Mary Ann N. Behm

Mary Ann N. Behm, 85, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing, Wilkes-Barre.

Mary Ann was born in Nanticoke, a daughter of the late Daniel and Susie Andes Schimmel. She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School and was employed for many years as an office administrator at the Social Security Administration. Mary Ann was a member of St. Andrew’s Parish, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Suzanne Behm and Cynthia Bower; grandson, Matthew John Bower; and brothers, Donald Schimmel and Robert Schimmel.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Bernard F. Behm Sr.; sons, Bernard F. Behm Jr. and his wife, Marianne, Philadelphia, John R. Behm and his wife, Helen, Wilkes-Barre, and David J. Behm and his wife, Joy, Royersford; grandchildren, Justin Behm, Laura Flowers, Jen Shovlin, Kim Behm, Jodi Behm, Dayna Behm, Ayva Behm and Sarah Behm; great grandchildren, Savanna Radecki and Carter Shovlin; sisters, Shirley Schimmel, Toccoa Falls, GA, Sylvia Svetz, Nanticoke, and Catherine Oates Shaffer, Seaford, DE; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann’s entire family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her caregiver, Sindy Giza.  She continues to be a blessing on our family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 AM in St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township, PA.

Friends may call on Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Those attending the visitation and funeral mass are required to wear a mask and abide by state social distancing requirements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre.
