Obituaries » Mary Claire Malacarne October 24, 2023 Mary Claire Malacarne October 24, 2023 Mary Claire Malacarne, 83, of Hanover Township, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 24, 2023, at Allied Hospice, Wilkes-Barre. Mary was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Sabulski Steininger. She was a graduate of G.A.R. High School, class of 1958. Mary was employed for many years at Carter Footwear. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Paul Malacarne in 1999; son, Paul Malacarne and daughter Mary Lou Thompson. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Harenza and her husband, Paul, Hanover Township; Susan Yeninas and her husband, Mark, Hanover Township; son, Billy Malacarne and his wife, Christine, Hanover Township; grandchildren, David Thompson and his wife, Karen; Jason Thompson; Nicole Thompson and her husband, Joe; Vincent Malacarne; Ava Malacarne; great grandchildren, Keira, Gionna and Xavier; sisters, Catherine Steininger, Edwardsville and Margaret Price, Wanamie; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was affectionately known to her youngest grandchildren as Woozie. She was an avid reader. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue Wilkes-Barre. Deacon William Behm will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 am to 11 am at the funeral home.
