Obituaries » Mary D. Petyo February 10, 2023 Mary D. Petyo February 10, 2023 Mary D. Petyo, 91, formerly of Mountain Top, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing Center, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late William and Martha Bogumil Kumor. Mary attended Meyers High School and she was employed for many years as a seamstress in the local garment industry. Mary was a member of St. Leo the Great Church, Ashley. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Michael Petyo, in 2013; brothers, Benjamin, Chester and Edmund Kumor; sisters, Stephanie Moses, Bertha Wasilewski, Helen Bandura, Victoria Martin, Veronica Kovelaski, Genevieve Pryst, Bernadine Bolar, and Loretta Grohowski. Surviving are her children, Denise Jacono, Lewes, DE, Michael Petyo and his wife Claudette, Allentown, and Edmund Petyo and his wife Corinne, Wilkes-Barre; 7 grandchildren, Maria, James, Keith, Adam, Danni, Ethan and Brianna; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Mary’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing for their compassionate care.
