Mary Lorraine Giampietro Weidlich

Mary Lorraine Giampietro Weidlich, (Sissy), age 84, from Wilkes-Barre, went into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, with her daughters by her side.

A loving, supporting, and dedicated mother, she was born to the late Dominick J. and Martha Lorraine Giampietro, May 19, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Mary graduated from G.A.R. Memorial High School in 1954.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Francis Giampietro, Dominick Emil Giampietro and sister, Rosemarie Kohl.

She is survived by four children: Lorraine (Lorrie) & husband Russell Symons of Larksville, Charles Weidlich (Debbie) of Wilkes-Barre, Donna Weidlich (John) of Wilkes-Barre and Karen Glova of Kingston. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Sarah Rebecca Gromel Baker (Rob), Julie Ann Weidlich, Jennifer Lorraine Symons Lau (Jonathan), Jonathan Russell Symons (Gianna), Raymond Adam Glova III, Stephen Dominick Glova and eight great-grandchildren, John-Dominick (J.D) Weidlich, Phoenix Weidlich, Joshua Michael Lau, Kianna Faith Lau, Jeremiah Caleb Lau, Isabella Freedom Baker, Wyatt Zen Baker, and Christian Symons.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Mary is survived by siblings, John Leonard Giampietro, Margaret Ann Manzoni (John) and Joseph Carl Giampietro (Nancy). She has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

After graduating she worked at Regina Dress Factory, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, A. Rifkin Company, A-1 Answering Service and retired in 2002 from Lord and Taylor. Mary loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, cooking, & being with her grandchildren. She was a survivor of kidney cancer for 25 years.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parish Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
