Michael J. Krygier

Michael J. Krygier of Wilkes Barre, passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at Allied Services Skilled Services Meade Street, Wilkes Barre.

He was born in Nanticoke and was the son of the late Leonard and Lillian (Baker) Krygier. Michael was a graduate of Nanticoke Area High Schools, class of 1970 and Luzerne County Community College, class of 1972. He was a member of the St. Andrew Church in Wilkes Barre.

Over the years, he worked for several home oil delivery companies and drove school bus for Wyoming Valley West. He retired in 2014 from The PA Turnpike Commission where he was a toll taker for a number of years.

Michael had a passion for cars and he loved attending car shows. He loved animals and was a therapy dog handler with Pleasure of Your Company Therapy Dogs. He enjoyed visiting Kings College students with his 3 fur kids, Angie, Gracie, and Shelby. He helped set up the therapy dog program at his Meade St facility.

Michael is survived by his wife Helene, (Sirak) Skopek-Krygier; his daughter, Tracey, Mountaintop; his 2 grandchildren; his brother, Leonard, Dallas, his 3 fur kids, and his cat Precious.

Michael’s family would like to extend their heartful gratitude to Allied Services Skilled Services Meade Street, Wilkes Barre especially the staff of the 4th floor.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parish Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Michael’s name to St. Andrews Church, 316 Parrish St, Wilkes Barre, Pa 18702.
