Myroula Homsi

Myroula Violides Homsi, 90, passed away on Saturday February 5, 2022, at The Gardens at East Mountain in Wilkes-Barre where she was a resident since May 2021.

Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, Myroula was the youngest daughter of Yannis and Catherine Violides.

Surviving are her loving children, daughter Maria Kaspar and her husband Dr. John Kaspar of Dallas, sons Michel HOMSI and his wife Rita Homsi, and Alexis Homsi and his wife Zeina Homsi, grandchildren, Christina Kaspar, Héléna, Marina, Nicolas and Karen HOMSI.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Constantin, her sister Soumella Meshaka and her two brothers, Théodore and Léon Violides and her granddaughter Tina Kaspar.

She started her undergraduate education at the Greek School in Beirut before graduating From College Protestant Français in Beirut in 1950.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature.

Myroula worked as an administrative assistant for Air France in Beirut.

She then dedicated her entire professional career to teaching at College Protestant Français then at the International College of Beirut.

Myroula had many passions among which her love of knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking and baking.

Throughout her life, she welcomed all her friends and relatives to join the family for happy gatherings and Scrabble games.

The family would like to thank The Gardens at East Mountain Nursing Home and all of their caregivers for their compassion and care during Myroula’s struggle with Alzheimer disease.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February12th at 10:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre followed by a Divine Liturgy at 11:00 A.M. in St. Anthony / St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 311 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18702.

 

Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to St. Anthony / St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 323 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
