Patricia Ann Lenahan, 71, of Hanover Township, passed away suddenly after a brief illness on Friday, March 12, 2021 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Jerome F. and Catherine Thornton O’Brien. Patricia was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, class of 1967 and a graduate of Misericordia University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration.
Patricia was formerly employed by Misericordia University and later by the Social Security Administration, retiring in 2012.
Patricia was an active and devoted member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre. She also served as the President of the Countrywood Home Owner’s Association.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert F. Lenahan.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Deacon Raymond J. Lenahan, with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April the 17th. She is also survived by her children, Dr. R. Sean Lenahan and his wife, Danielle, Wallingford; Maureen L. Mitchell and her husband, Scott, Avis; Bridget L. Potter and her husband, Charles, West Wyoming and Sarah L. Knorr and her husband, Bernard, Dallas; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Andrew, Ellanor and Abigail Mitchell;
Katherine and Julianne Potter; Ava and Carley Knorr; sister, Kathleen Sweeney and her husband, William, Hanover Township; brothers, Jerome O’Brien and his wife, Cristen, West Pittston and James O’Brien and his wife, Mary Ann, Larksville; along aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney & Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
A walk-through visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 7 pm at the funeral
Those attending the visitation and service must wear a mask and abide by social distancing requirements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre.
