Regina Gosciewski, 74, of Hanover Township, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Herbert J. and Regina Perulski Dutt. Regina was a 1962 graduate of St. Nicholas High School in Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1965.
Regina was employed for many years as a registered nurse at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and later employed at Surgical Specialist in Plains. She retired from the Wilkes-Barre Area School District where she was a school nurse at Dodson and Kistler Elementary Schools.
She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre. Regina was also an active leader with Cub Scout Pack 66 in Hanover Township for almost 30 years. She loved being a scout leader especially attending a week long summer camp at Camp Acahela.
Regina was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Gosciewski, on April 7, 2018.
Surviving are her son, John Gosciewski and his wife, Jennifer, Bear Creek Township; granddaughter, Alyvia Gosciewski; brother, Herbert J. Dutt Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Plains Township; sister, Mary Frances Waxmonsky and her husband, Larry, Plains Township and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney and Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call on Sunday from 4 – 6 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509.
Regina’s son and family would like to thank the nurses and staff from the Emergency Room and ICU at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their compassionate care.
