Robert A. Prieto

Robert A. Prieto, 86, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Majestic Oaks Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Warminster.

 

Robert was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Palko Prieto. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School and received his associates degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. He was employed by Bell Atlantic as an engineering manager for many years until his retirement.

 

Robert was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a former member of St. Michael’s Church, Scranton. Robert was a life member of Penn State Alumni Association, Penn State Engineering Society, and VFW Post 283, Kingston. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association of America, Telephone Pioneers of America, Militia of the Immaculata-Knights of the Immaculata, and an associate member Marian Movement of Priests.

 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Manuel and Joseph Prieto; and sisters, Theresa Prieto, Betty Malinowski and Marian Anthony.

 

Surviving is his daughter, Anne Koelble and her husband, Ted, Warminster; sons, Michael Prieto, Quakertown, and Robert J. Prieto and his wife, Melissa, Spring City; grandchildren, Michael Prieto, Nicholas Koelble, Caitlyn Koelble, Tyler Prieto, Zachary Koelble, Joseph Prieto and Harrison Prieto; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A celebration of Robert’s life will begin with a visitation from 9 – 10:30 am on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington Street, Wilkes­-Barre.

 

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA  18702.
