OBITUARIES
Obituaries » Ruth Doris Wilde August 8, 2023 Ruth Doris Wilde August 8, 20223 Ruth Doris Wilde died on August 8, 2023, at 92 years of age. She was born October 13, 1930, in Noxen, Pa. She grew up in Harveys Lake, Pa and attended Laketon, Lake Noxen and Lake Lehman High School. In her Senior year, she moved to Luzerne with her parents and graduated from Luzerne High School in 1949. She also attended school in New York during the period of time her father worked in the Shipyards during WWII. She married William John Wilde Sr on May 22, 1954. He was the love of her life and they worked together to create a loving home for their children. She retired from Sears to take care of her husband who was dying from Mesothelioma (Asbestos cancer). After deciding to go back into the workforce (because Mom could not sit still), she took several jobs from the Office of the Aging, finally finding her dream job at WVIA, working for Ginny Fredmonski in the Call Center. She loved this job and developed a close friendship with Ginny as well as Margaret, Debbie, Cheryl and Peggy. She loved the polkas, Danny O’Donnell, Neil Diamond and Patsy Cline. Her granddaughters have memories of her driving them around listening to Patsy Cline and having sleepovers at her home. Her nephews remember her always having “shake n bake” chicken ready for them when they came to visit and the refrigerator full of goodies for them. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wilde Sr. in 1991. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents, George and Doris Pembleton, 4 brothers George, Willard, David and Darryl (died as a baby) and 3 sisters, Lula (Tiny) Mock, Irene Molecavage and Ramona Richards. She is survived by her three children, daughters Sandra Kijek (Peter), Harveys Lake; Lorraine McHale (Cliff), Bath; and son, William John WIlde, Jr (Margaret), Wilkes-Barre Twp. She has nine grandchildren, Joseph McHale (Michelle), William McHale (Theresa), Maria Reed (Christian), Daniel McHale (Bertrudis), Margaret Cibello (Mike), Coleen Wilde (Jeff), Tori Wilde (Craig), Kristen Wilde (David) and Chloe Wilde. She also has 13 greatgrandchildren, Emily Ruth, Katie, Lucas and Abigail McHale (Pen Argyl), Ryan, Gianna and Jake McHale (West Chester), Sammy, Ezra and Autumn Reed (Maryland), Danielle and Noah McHale (Oswego), and Savannah Cibello (Laurel Run). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephew. Mom was always there for us. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her priority and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She loved Sunday dinner at her home and her son and daughter-in-law continued this tradition, after mom was no longer able to manage, bringing Sunday dinner to her home (every Sunday). She absolutely loved going for lunch with her daughters, especially Abes on Barney Street, Perkins and the Grille in Luzerne. The staff at these restaurants treated her like a queen, always bringing her coffee with milk as soon as they saw her coming through the door. Also, she made good friends with Suzanne and Kathy from Bob Evans, and they continued to ask about her long after the restaurant closed. She was a loyal friend and remained close to her WVIA friends continuing to celebrate each other’s birthdays long after she retired. Mom was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Our only comfort is that she is no longer suffering and that she will be reunited with our dad. There will be a hole in our hearts that will never be replaced, but we will all have the wonderful memories she left us with. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 5-7 pm at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Condolences may be sent by visiting Ruth’s obituary at www.natandgawlas.com Ruth Doris Wilde
