Stephen S. Zavatsky

Stephen S. Zavatsky, 93, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing.


He was born in Larksville, a son of the late John and Sophia Wojtowvich Zavatsky. Stephen was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. Prior to his retirement, Stephen had been employed by the federal government and US Postal Service in Connecticut.



Stephen was a member of the Polish National Church in Larksville. He was also a member of the Larksville American Legion, Post 655.  He enjoyed polka dancing.  He also enjoyed nature and the outdoors.  He loved to fish and pick mushrooms and blue berries.


He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Joseph Zavatsky.


Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Sylvia Skiro Zavatsky, Wilkes-Barre; children, Lorraine Creedon, Dorothy Tedder and her husband Paul, Stephen Zavatsky, Jr. and his wife Ann, and Bette Jane Haskell and her husband Stephen, all of Connecticut; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sister Rita Kress, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services for Stephen will be scheduled at a later date.
