Obituaries » Teresa Buckley October 7, 2022 Teresa Buckley October 7, 2022 Teresa Wanyo Buckley, 74, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was born in Larksville, a daughter of the late John G. and Eleanor Malesky Wanyo. Teresa was a member of the last graduating class of Larksville High School in 1966. She retired from Fairchild Semi Conductor after 35 years of service. Teresa was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Wilkes-Barre. She enjoyed traveling, doing puzzles, reading, crocheting, baking, watching home improvement shows on TV, casino gambling, and decorating her home for all the holidays. She especially enjoyed challenging her husband to games of backgammon and dominos and highly spirited family pitch games. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Wanyo; brother-in-law, Harold Eckrote; sister-in-law, Helen Buckley and her best friend, Joni Belcher. Teresa is survived by her wonderful husband of 49 years, George Buckley; son, Dr. George C. Buckley and his wife, Karen Kachurick Buckley, Shavertown. She is also survived by brother, Michael Wanyo and his wife, Marian, Plains; twin brother, Theodore Wanyo and his wife, Marilyn, Brentwood, NH; in-laws, Maryann Wanyo, Plymouth; Anne Marie Eckrote, Rochester, NY; Robert and Nancie Buckley, Middletown, PA; Donald Buckley, Kingston; nieces and nephews and also her grand dogs (fur babies), who she adored watching when their parents went on vacation. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 – 7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
