Obituaries » Thomas L. Michaels July 29, 2023 Thomas L. Michaels July 29, 2023 Thomas “Tommy” L. Michaels, 76, of Mountaintop, passed away July 29, 2023, surrounded by his family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, after battling a brief illness. He was born in Wilkes Barre, a son of the late Joseph Michaels and the late Mary (Vrabel) Michaels. Thomas was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School and he attended Penn State University. Prior to his retirement, Tommy was employed by the United States Postal Service in Wilkes Barre, for 33 years. Tommy was avid hunter and fisherman, spending much of his time with his older brother, Joe, on hiking and hunting trails since they were kids. Tommy was always there to lend a helping hand, yet never asked for anything in return. Tommy was known for sharing his knowledge of fun facts, silly jokes, and was a great listener. He was always at family gatherings, holiday parties, or just a random visit to see his family and friends. Tommy’s presence will be truly missed, and already is, beyond measure. He will be loved and remembered, forever. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Dombroski Michaels. Tommy is survived by his brother, Joseph Michaels and his wife, Sandra, of (Alden) Nanticoke; and by his sisters, Maryanne Steininger, of Deltona, FL, and Dorothy Belardinelli, and husband, Francis, of Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation honoring Thomas on Thursday, August 4, 2023, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave, Wilkes-Barre, with a Memorial Service to follow at 12PM. Rev. James Nash will officiate. Interment will follow at St Mary’s Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming. Condolences may be sent by visiting Tommy’s obituary at www.natandgawlas.com Thomas L. Michaels
