William J. Zurawski

July 14, 2022

William J. Zurawski, 83, of Sinking Spring, PA, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday at the Reading Hospital.

He was born in Plains Township, on Oct. 19, 1938, the son of the late Mitchell and Mary Baron Zurawski.

Bill was a graduate of Plains Township High School class of 1957.  In high school, he excelled in football and basketball.

Following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the Strategic Air Command.  Prior to his retirement, Bill had been employed for over 30 years as a Lineman Leader for Pennsylvania Power & Light.

He was a former member of St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception in Wilkes-Barre.  Bill loved spending his time helping others and is fondly remembered for this.  If someone needed something, he always had a way of finding it for them.  Along with his wife (Betty), they enjoyed visiting their sons and grandchildren. Also, they loved taking their day trips and visiting different places.  He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Bogdan Zurawski on April 3, 2008.

He is survived by his sons, William M. Zurawski and his wife, Alysia, Mohnton, and by Michael Zurawski, Sinking Spring; grandchildren, Sarah, Chase and Cameron Zurawski.  He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Zurawski and his wife, Kathleen, Plains Township, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
