William R. Dobson, 81, of Hanover Township, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

 

He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Charles and Margaret Shanahan Dobson. William graduated from Meyers High School, class of 1959, Luzerne County Community College, and Misericordia University. After graduation William enlisted in the Navy and served during the Vietnam War, he also served in the Army National Guard, 109th Field Artillery. He retired from The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, S.C.I. Dallas as a counselor.

 

He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre and American Legion Post 609, Hanover Township.

 

William was a member of the Irem Temple Shrine of Wilkes-Barre.

 

He enjoyed fishing and metal detecting and was an avid fan of Penn State and Eagles Football.

 

William was preceded in death by wife, Jean Dobson and son, Alexander Dobson.

 

Surviving is his daughter, Donna Fuller and her husband, Robert Jr.; grandsons, Robert III and Jacob Dobson, granddaughter, Sadie Fuller; brother, Charles Dobson and his wife Sherry, and many nieces and nephews.

 

A private funeral service will be held at the convivence of the family.

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
